Creality CR-Scan Raptor 3D Scanner

The scanner works but I have 2 main Gripes. The first if WHY no adequate tutorials, I had to look for ages and eventually found 1 item reporting or reviewing the scanner but also happen to show how they were working it. My 2nd Gripe is WHY NOT tell me at the time I ordered that there is now an new model, The Creality Lizard scanner. It cost more yes, but hey, I would pay the extra 400 dollars for the newer model. Yes the Scanner works and decent commercial grade scanners cost 10s of thousands while this one at least does the job of giving me a rudimentary 3D model to trace contours etc from if I wanted to model a holder say or a cover etc etc.

Decent performance for a budget 3d scanner.

For items bigger than 3” and less then 8” you can get away with using the turntable. With larger items like these even scans Handheld with max brightness and Texture Mode seems to do the trick. Be advised this requires some serious hardware horsepower as the engine bay scan was 3570 frames and needed nearly a hour to even render for processing. The system used as a older Developer Laptop i7, 16gb ram and 4gb AMD Radeon Graphics card.

Takes a lot of patience and practice. If you have the money, well worth the cost.
